I have an 08 renegade 800 aswell.

What I would recommend is a 1.75" lug, same as the BackCountry (Challanger Trail Lite). That is what I am getting put on mine right now. I am not sure about clearance issues. but I think that you would be fine up to a 2" lug.

The problem is that these tracks at quite expensive. Nearly $1000.00, fortunatley mine is being covered under an insurance claim .

You have to make sure that you get a track that will work with the 2.86 drivers. Or you could change the drivers with a new track, but price would be about the same 650 for a new track and another 150 for the drivers..

I think that all the new XP chassis doo sleds have the same clearance and just a different length tunnel which would give clearance up to 2.5"

Just call your local doo dealer and they can tell you exactly how big of a lug you can turn in there. I basically built a backcountry gade last year with my 09 and it is awesome. You should do ok in the mountains with the 16x137.

i want to do the same thing to a '07 800 X gade. Dealer said i could go 16" wide. Figured i could go 2" for sure in a rev chassy, didn't know if 2.25" would work (was going to double check). But xp chassy will take a 2.25". Are you changing your skis to the wide mountain ones 6.9's, or keeping the 5.7's? Changing the spindles to get the narrow ski stance? I think I'll just go with the 6.9 skis.

Looking at doing the same thing to a '07 800 gade. Dealer said I could go 16" wide X 2" lug in a rev chassy. Said 2.25" maybe in a rev (has to look into it) and for sure for a XP. Are changing the skis to 6.9's, or keeping your 5.7's? What about changing the spindles to a summit/backcountry to get a narrow ski stance? Changing any gearing or teeth in the chaincase? Presently I have a 14" X 1.75" on the gade, but want something closer to a summit but don't feel like shovelling out $14,000+ for a new one.

Every dealer I asked told me 1.75 is the biggest I could go. Be some pist off if I could go
bigger. As for gearing have thoght of it wouldn't bother me to give it more bottom end and loose some speed any suggestions on that? And for the spindles no never thought of that at all but sure sounds good to do on what I read now???????

Is the drive shaft position in the bulkhead / tunnel any different than in the Summit models? I would have thought that they were the same chassis and would have the same clearances from drive shaft to bulkhead. Does the Summit use smaller drivers than the Renegade? I think one tooth smaller on the drivers can gain 1/4 - 1/2" in lug height clearance. I also thought the Renegades and Summits all came standard with 16" wide tracks.

Keep your mountain trips to the spring when there is hero snow and they say lug height and track length doesn't matter much.
